About the founder
AndrewHolland
I help brands become easier to find, easier to understand and easier to choose, across search engines, AI systems and the wider web.
SEO strategist, writer and speaker. Director of SEO at JBH, a digital PR and SEO agency in Manchester, and founder of Growth Through Content.
The idea
Content is a visibility asset, not a publishing treadmill.
Businesses grow when they become more visible, more memorable and more useful in the places their buyers already look for answers: Google, LinkedIn, AI search tools, industry publications, comparison pages and the wider network of mentions and links that shape how people and machines understand a brand.
- Not just content as blog posts.
- Not content as a publishing treadmill.
- Content as an asset system that builds reach, recognition, demand, trust and recommendation.
The route in
From policing to search
Before Andrew ever used SEO software, he used intelligence systems. Searching messy information, spotting patterns and connecting people, places and evidence turned out to be the perfect training for understanding how search engines, and now AI, decide what matters.
- Chapter one
17 years in the police
Police officer, then detective. Much of his later career was spent in covert policing, intelligence and investigation.
- The spark
Search as an intelligence tool
Working inside intelligence databases taught him to read entities, signals and evidence, and to see search as a visibility system rather than a set of tricks.
- Chapter two
Zoogly Media
After leaving policing he built his own SEO and content business and ran it profitably for eight years, learning that clients don’t buy activity. They buy growth.
- Chapter three
Director of SEO at JBH
Leading SEO, content and AI search strategy at a Manchester digital PR and SEO agency, for brands that want more than rankings.
- Now

The future of search is not just about being listed. It is about being recommended.Andrew Holland
The work
Optimise for the internet, not just search engines
SEO, digital PR, content and brand strategy working as one system, so a business is more likely to be found, remembered, recommended and chosen.
SEO and content
Pages, products and expert content that help search engines and buyers understand exactly what a brand does and why it matters, measured in commercial terms, not vanity metrics.
Read the articles →Digital PR
Publicity that builds more than links: mentions, expert commentary and stories that make a brand famous within its market and easier for people and AI to recall.
See the writing and talks →AI search and recommendation
Helping brands become clear, well understood and well connected, so ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google’s AI experiences associate them with the right problems and buyers.
Explore the AI search research →Fame Engineering
A framework drawing on marketing science and network theory (mental availability, preferential attachment, semantic association) for making the reason to choose a brand famous.
Explore the network science →The big idea
Building AI availability
Brands once had to win a place in buyers’ minds and on the shelf. Now they also need a place inside the systems people use to search, compare and decide.
Mental availability
Being thought of in buying situations. Recognition built through fame, distinctiveness and reach.
Physical availability
Being easy to find and buy. In search, that is the digital shelf of buyer-intent results.
AI availability
Being understood, trusted and recommended by AI systems at the moment a buyer asks for help.
The principles
What Andrew believes
Visibility compounds
The more useful, distinctive and commercially relevant assets a brand creates, the more chances it has to be discovered and remembered.
Content should create value beyond traffic
A good page should help buyers decide, help sales explain the offer, and help search engines and AI place the brand in the right category.
Fame matters
Not celebrity, but meaningful visibility within a market. The more a brand is associated with a category, the easier it is to recall and recommend.
SEO is becoming more strategic
Technical SEO and rankings still matter, but growth now depends on positioning, entity clarity, authority, brand demand and digital PR too.
Marketers must become better commercial thinkers
The future belongs to people who can connect search, content, AI, PR and brand into a system that senior decision-makers understand and invest in.
In print and on stage
Challenging shallow thinking
Andrew writes and speaks about the future of search, AI recommendation and fame. He is critical of tactics that create activity without commercial value, and argues SEO should be explained in business terms.
